Suppose I should tell you who I am?
As I said before my name's Sam, I'm 24 and I work under the synonym Ferinus Goo.
Ideally I would be doing nothing but design work to pay the rent and put bread on the table.
However I'm finding it difficult to break through into the industry full time..
This is half laziness half it being a rubbish area for design work.
I enjoy and work in Graphic Design (both Printed and Web based formats) this could include anything from printed leaflets, business cards or T-shirts to animated web banners.
I also enjoy Web design, I'm somewhere between a Designer and a Developer.. currently I'd say I have my little toe dipped into developing and the rest of me in the front end design lol.
So what's my current skill set?
Web:
I can script a site free hand with XHTML and CSS I'd rather look at a sheet of script in notepad than use a designers WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) style Dreamweaver interface.
I also understand the application of PHP and can even write a little of my own basic stuff.
I understand the theory of Javascript and AJAX and can apply it but need to start learning to write it myself.
I use SEO techniques as well as Usability standards to try and make the most of my sites.
Graphic/Other:
I have a High/Professional level of knowledge for entire Adobe software suite,
Predominantly, Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver.
I have knowledge of working with software such as 3DS Max and Protools as well as the Avid editing system.
From my current job I also have experience both in Photography and writing Copy for websites.
I have a solid basis to work with, I just need to get it going regularly.

Who am I?
New Beginnings.
My name's Sam, I'm a "Freelance" multimedia designer, mostly self taught and still in his first couple of years of his career.
I use the quotation marks because I'm currently working full time as a Retoucher for a commercial photography company.. the photo equivalent to Tesco with no actual design work in sight.
I do however have a plan.. This plan involves a website, this website could make myself and my girlfriend (fellow designer and co-conspirator) quite a deal of money if it were to take off.
More than that I want to be able to leave my Retouchers job and say Hi I'm an actual designer again.
This blog as I said is to help me get things done and hopefully provide you with entertaining reading along the way and maybe give you a few resources I've googled out of the either.
The plan is I'll do a little write up each week (Some point on a Saturday seems most likely) what I've managed to do or get done, How I've learnt what I've learnt and any tutorials I've stumbled across and liked.
I want it to be a little progress chart to hopefully show the take off of my career in Design (Graphic and Web).
